about

Purgatory - a place or state of temporary suffering or misery. Purgatory can refer to any place or situation in which suffering and misery are felt to be sharp but temporary.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_economic_inequality

The U.S. mass media is a powerful and large political structure that serves a system-based propaganda role, dependent on market forces, centralized perceived and self-censored ideas, and without transparent repression.

Research shows that increased inequality hinders economic growth and that disparities in land and human capital decreases productivity more than income inequality.

The propaganda model for the manufacture of public consent defines five filters that manipulate the editorial content of news reports in mass media:

1. Size, Ownership, and Profit Orientation:
The mainstream media outlets are large-scale profit-based businesses and must therefore serve the financial interests of business owners including shareholders and controlling creditors. The size of a media company is a result of the investment in the mass communications technology necessary to reach a mass audience of spectators, listeners and readers.

2. The Advertising License to Do Business:
Because the bulk of income of major media outlets comes from ads, advertisers have gained a "de facto licensing authority." Without the funding of marketers, media outlets are not commercially viable. Therefore, news media need to tackle their advertisers ' political views and economic desires. It, for example, has undermined the press from the working class and describes the volume of publications that is destructive.

3. Sourcing Mass Media News:
Through contributing to the the media's costs of procurement and distribution of content, the large bureaucracies of the wealthy subsidize the mass media of specific exposure. The large entities offering this service have access to the windows and become' routine news sources. The arbitrary decision of the gatekeepers must be ignored by non routine sources of access. The editorial distortion is exacerbated by the media's dependence on private and government news sources. For situations where there is downside from the origins for a certain newspaper, television station, magazine, etc., it is implicitly ruled out. To mitigate this financial risk, news media outlets editorially manipulate their content to support corporate and government agendas and remain in business.

4. Flak and the Enforcers:
"Flak" refers to negative responses to a media statement or program. Flak can be expensive to the media, Flak may be costly because of the lack of advertisement sales or because of expenses in the protection of the public image of the newspaper. Powerful private interest groups can be grouped into Flak. The threat of flak may dissuade the publication of certain facts or opinions.

5. Anti-Communism:
The "War on Terror" has been the main tool of social control since the end of Cold War anti-communism.
